Product Introduction

The EF-004 is a configurable smart BMS designed for inspection, monitoring and surveying UAV battery packs.

It supports 12S–18S LiPo and semi-solid-state battery configurations, with isolated CAN, RS485 and DroneCAN communication options. The BMS can also be configured for dual-pack parallel operation, allowing it to support UAV platforms that require extended flight time and stable high-current performance.

Protection thresholds, communication parameters and interface options can be configured to suit the battery pack, flight-control system and charger requirements.

Protocol integration is available for selected PX4, DroneCAN, SkyRC CAN and project-specific UAV systems. Compatibility should be confirmed during the engineering evaluation stage.

Technical FAQ and Troubleshooting

Q: What should I do if I notice smoke or a burning smell when connecting the voltage-sensing harness?

Immediately unplug the harness. Check if cell wiring follows the correct B0→B1→B2→... sequence with no skips or cold solder joints. For multi-interface BMS boards, always connect low-position first, then high-position. Inspect for exposed wire shorts or solder beads on the board.

Q: Battery pack does not discharge — what to check?

First, check if an external switch is configured and try pressing it. Connect Bluetooth or PC software to verify discharge MOS status: "1" = allowed, "0" = blocked. If in sleep mode, this is normal — wake with switch, charge, or discharge. If the LED flashes at 200ms, a fault protection is active — check voltage, current, or temperature alerts via the app.

Q: Why does the voltage-sensing harness become warm during operation?

The most common cause is incorrect wiring sequence — high/low positions are reversed. Also verify the harness string count matches the BMS factory settings. Incorrect matching causes heating and can damage internal circuits.

Q: One cell voltage drifts significantly under load — how to resolve?

Check solder connections on the affected cell and its adjacent cells. Verify the voltage sense wire is firmly soldered. Use soft copper bus bars for inter-cell connections — power cables have higher resistance and cause imbalance.

Q: Why does the load disconnect unexpectedly?

Three potential causes:
1) Battery voltage dropped below the over-discharge threshold;
2) Load/inverter power exceeded over-current limits;
3) Device has large capacitors that triggered short-circuit protection. Connect to PC software or Bluetooth app to read the active fault code.

Q: Power cuts out during rapid ascent — what should I check?

Check for over-current protection triggering under high load — adjust protection parameters via PC software. Verify sufficient remaining charge (low-voltage protection may be active). Inspect all power cable solder joints for cold or loose connections.
